Firstly we shall drive to apiary “Kralov med” in the quaint village of Selo 10 minutes away of Bled. This apiary is new and holds 30 beehives. Each hive is decorated with an individual picture which shows a type of tree or a plant, with an image of its leaf and flower. You will observe a beekeeper at work, as inside the apiary visitors remain behind a protective glass barrier with no risk from bee stings. Furthermore you will learn all about history of beekeeping and the regulation system of Slovenian honey, see a swarm of bees on a tree trunk in a bee hive - a unique ability to see a bee colony. Of course you will also taste the honey, pollen and honey cookies. Their forest honey won several gold and silver medals at Regional and World Honey Competitions. After we will take “pletna” -wooden boat which will take us to the island. We shall see St. Mary’s church and ring the wishing bell. After we take a break in a coffe shop called Potičnica. Here we can taste different Slovenian feast cakes “potica”-wallnut, nut, aplle, chocolate.. Next stop is Vila Bled and their vine cellar. Here we will have presentation of Slovenian wines, taste some and learn all about Slovenian wine growing areas and Slovenian successful winemakers. Our next stop is town of Bled and hotel Park restaurant. We’ll sit down, admire lake and castle view and enjoy “kremšnita”- vanilla cream cake. We can also decide for take away and rather have some walk through the town, anyhow, you are not allowed to leave Bled without tasting famous pastry.
