Introduced to the Iberian Peninsula by the Arabs, tiles were kept as a tradition and had an important role during the reconstruction of the city, after 1755's earthquake. Both art and utility, tiles are one of the most symbolic elements of Lisbon. During this 3hour walking tour you'll have the opportunity to explore the historical centre and see some of the most amazing examples of tiles, from the 16th centre until nowadays, and also see the wide range of places where they were/are put. Since there's no better way to learn something than experiencing it, at the end of this tour you'll have the opportunity to paint one tile yourself! This workshop will happen in the iconic neighbourhood of Alfama, you'll have someone explaining you how to do it, and you can stay there painting for as long as you enjoy.
