Day 2 : The Alentejo Table Wine Region features : pottery in Redondo , massive fortifications at Elvas , by the Spanish border, the Alqueva dam among the largests in Europe ,the quaint Monsaraz castle and Évora ,an Unesco Heritage Site , cork and marble quarries…shark soup and gaspacho. Overnight in Borba or Elvas Day 3 : One more half day in the Alentejo Wine Region to visit the Lusitano horse breeding center and the walled village Marvão at a altitude of 900m.Then drive further north to the typical stone village Monsanto . Overnight in Belmonte Day 4 : Visit the local Jewish Museum , the Synagogue and the Olive Oil museum ; Kosher wine tasting produced in the Beira Wine Region.Drive further north to Castelo Rodrigo .We finally reach the Douro river and Nature ParK enjoying the most beautiful of the portuguese wine regions , the Douro Wine Region , Unesco ‘s Heritage Nature Site : Overnight in Pinhão or Régua Day 5 : One full day in the Douro Region with Port and table wine tasting ;optional boat tour ; should you be traveling in September / October I can arrange that you join the grape harvest , followed by a typical lunch in a local Quinta ( estate ). Overnight at Pinhão or Régua Day 6 : One half day in the Rosé Wine Region visiting the Mateus Palace. Alvão Mountain and Nature Park .Suggested menu : cod fish. Drive up to Senhora da Graça Mountain peak , the same spot reached by Portugal’s Bike Tour athletes ,right in the heart of the Vinho Verde ( green wine)Region. Overnight in Apúlia Day 7: Walk by the ocean and join farmers and fishermen gathering seaweeds. Visit to a local market , walking tour in the countryside near Ponte de Lima and visit the famous factory where Indiana Jones’s hat was manufactured .One more day to taste the Vinho Verde…and fresh fish and seafood from the ocean. Day 8 : Finish the tour with a panoramic tour in Oporto followed by a visit in a Port Wine Cellar .Drop off at the airport or drive back to Lisbon.
