We’ll depart from your Hotel/Hostel (Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt) to the 225 Route, which connecting the cities of Puerto Varas in Chile and Bariloche in Argentina. All our excursion we will drive around of “Lago Llanquihue” or “Hueñanca”(Deep place in mapuche language). The Llanquihue lake is the third largest natural lake in South America and second in largest in Chile(886.000 Km. sq. and 350 meters deep), after the General Carrera lake in South Patagonia. Small towns, many of which incorporate the word “Puerto” in their names, surround it. Puerto Varas, founded in 1853 by German colonists in their efforts to colonize this beautiful, verdant but forest covered land. The Commune itself was created only on December 30, 1925. Beautiful land we will see during our tour, where we will arrive to “Villa Ensenada” on the shore of the Volcano Osorno(8,730-foot) into the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park and the Laguna Verde area. Walk and photos in this place. We will have the opportunity to appreciate the scale of the lake and its surroundings. Depending on the day and the season you will spot local wild life along the wooded shoreline. Then we take the road through the foothills of the towering volcano that took us to " Las Cascadas Village" located 22 kms. We will have the opportunity to visit a beautiful waterfall of 40 meters tall, according to the road conditions and weather. Our route will always be surrounded by beautiful native trees and sandy beaches. From here we head to Puerto Octay, located on the north shore of the lake, marked by the huge German influence "Casonas Germanas" and agricultural fields. Walk around its ancient streets and Plaza, and later take a beautiful photos from their viewpoints (optional visit to the Museum). We continue our route for the lake coast; now we will arrive to “Frutillar”. In this town, every year between 27 January and 5 February, a festival of classical music, known internationally as "The Music Weeks Frutillar" occasion on which the town is decked out to welcome tourists around the world who come to enjoy the show. Time to walk and explore its beautiful gardens or eat their delicious German pastries. Always bordering Lake Llanquihue, we headed to the town of Llanquihue, famous for its sausages and place of origin of the river Maullín (full of water in native language), is part of the old route of the Settlers. In the town we will visit the “Memorial to the German Colonists”, and then take the Panamerican Highway (25 800 km. approx., extension linking the state of Alaska in USA with Chiloé in the Lake District, Chile) to take us to Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt.
